*A camera comes up on Campbell Chase, dressed in a three-piece black suit with red tie. He sits in his home in Phoenix, AZ, watching back the tape for Lauren Parker and Hammerstein from Starrzone. Chase pauses the tape and begins to speak.*
Quite the intriguing match-up we had here now, wasn’t it? Lauren Parker defending against Hammerstein. By God, I must say I was impressed. Not by the match itself no. That was merely just a spectacle lacking in real artform. What I was really impressed with was Hammerstein’s aggressiveness. Watch here.
*Campbell fast-forwards to the finish of the match.*
Lauren is clearly out, as any one can see. However, that can do attitude of hers would not let her quit so Hammerstein muscled here up, got her in position, and drilled the Hammersteiner for the one, two, three. That lack of heart, it almost reminded me of, well, me. On that night, on that stage, he accomplished his goals. He won the UWL Television Championship and took it as his own. I applaud him for that. I can tell that he’s worked to perfect his craft and he’s been doing this for awhile now so we will have an understanding. Something I have to pose to Mr. Hammerstein though is this. Do you really know what the Television Championship is meant to be?
*Campbell turns the television off and rises from his couch, walking over to the mantle where photos of wrestling history's greatest moments sit.*
Allow me to give you a bit of a history lesson here, sir. From a purist’s perspective the Television Champion was the belt you wanted to have. While the World Championship was set aside for the so called top guys, and championships like the United States Championship was set aside for those deemed the next big stars, the Television Championship was given to the workhorses. It symbolized that you were going to put on the best matches show in and show out, no questions asked. It’s a grapplers title if there ever was a grapplers title. If in the proper hands, the Television Championship could be the biggest and brightest belt on any card. When in the wrong hands, well, the title flounders away and dies. That’s where we sit now. A person who doesn’t have the respect for that championship he holds in his grasp. A man who only wanted it to have it and place on his resume.
*Campbell picks up a picture on his mantle place and admires it for a moment before placing it down and turning to face the camera.*
Hammerstein, you hold gold all over the globe. Your track record shows world championships on four different continents, countless runs at the top of every single promotion you step foot in. It’s almost as if you’re only in this business nowadays to commence a hostile takeover. You want to hold every belt there is to hold and, while that is commendable to have such a hefty goal, you don’t have the right to monopolize. You’re just not good enough to do that. You may not know me very well but understand that I care deeply about the sanctity of this business. I care deeply about what the Television Championship means. Love me or hate me, I want what’s best for that gold and what’s best for that gold is it coming off of your waist and going around mine. Now that your chase has ended, your guard is up but, from my perspective, your time's up before it even got the chance to start.
*Campbell walks over to a cabinet and opens it, retrieving the Sinister Wrestling Pure Championship.*
Another simple point I have is that you’re not the only one who’s making waves. Four matches, four victories, and this lovely championship belt of mine to go along with it. I’m not here to up the ante. No, no, this Pure Championship stays with me until I deem it fit to be defended. Why I’m showing you this is to show you that in my short time since running around this niche part of the business, I’ve been making my name. I’ve had two matches since arriving in UWL and I’ve already risen to the main event for the Television Championship. If that proves anything, it proves that everything that I’ve been saying, and everything that I’ve accomplished, speaks volumes. Are you prepared to step into the ring with a purist like myself or will you collapse under the pressure of the unknown?
*Campbell places the championship back in the cabinet and closes the door behind him, walking straight towards the camera.*
I’ve beaten two behemoths since arriving in UWL, slain them and pissed them off sure, but beaten them nonetheless. Come January 11th in Baltimore, Maryland, I will not stop until I see one of two things. Either I will drill you down to the mat, while listening to your neck crackle while Chasing the Future or, and this is what I hope happens, I’ll catch you like only Professional Wrestling’s Last Chance can, force you to the mat, slap on my Crossface and wrench, squeeze, torque and pull my way to your submission. I will stop at nothing to make sure you leave that arena knowing that you just got bested by the absolute best that this planet has to offer. When all is said and done, I will walk away knowing I am UWL’s future, I am UWL’s workhorse and, most importantly, I am UWL’s new Television Champion. Be ready, because I know I will.
*Campbell turns and walks away as the camera slowly blurs before turning to black.*
